A Hand Painted White Stag Decoration

Beautiful, Hand Painted, Christmas Decorations Designed & Made in Somerset

In Celtic Folklore A White Hart or Stag was seen as a messenger from another realm. To see one suggested a chance to review our spiritual connection, and perhaps the beginning of a new quest.

This striking White Stag decoration has been inspired by a real one that I sighted many years ago with my son and his father in The Cotswolds, Gloucestershire. Driving home from a visit to friends one Summer's evening, we turned our old Morris van into the lane where our live - in truck was parked on land just outside Stow on the Wold (one of The Cotswold's most historic and charming towns -do visit if you are in the area). As we turned slowly into the lane we saw the most stunning pure white Hart standing in the middle of the road - looking as suprised to see us as we were him. We immediately turned off the engine and stopped the car, for a fleeting few seconds we gazed in awe before he turned on his hooves and leapt away across the fields. We spotted him again several weeks later bounding along the hedgerow. Legend has it that the White Harts have the ability to evade capture - I still hope that he and his offspring will freely roam the Cotswold hills for centuries to come.

Cut from responsibly sourced Poplar wood that has been hand painted in a rustic style, finished with a black satin ribbon
