Here is Somerset it has been a very wet start to the year, with much of our county (you may be familiar with The Levels) under swathes of water. I am fortunate to have both my home and workshop on high ground in relative safety from flood water however I have utmost sympathy and concern for my fellow countrymen who are less fortunate and struggling with the continuing effects of so much concentrated rainfall.
And so to the start of the year which has found me increasingly busy with the galleries I work with who have all been keen to put the last of the Winter decs to bed and begin freshening up their spaces for Spring; orders for Snowdrops, Bluebells and Spring Flowers have been taking priority, with every available surface being covered in work in various stages of finishing!
I am also busy with production for our annual Snowdrop Festival which takes place in our sweet market town. I have joined in for the past five years or so and am very much looking forward to taking part again; a chance to catch up with local friends and fellow makers, and a chance to prepare my stand and display for the Spring shows (details on my Events page).
Alongside my usual range of Spring Flowers (including of course Snowdrops) I am looking forward to themeing my stand with peachy, pink blossom this year; after so much cold, wet weather, increasingly concerning news stories, and general Winter malaise, a burst of warm and gentle pink is much needed to lift the spirits - it has certainly been effective at lifting mine as I have had my head down immersed in painting it for the last few days. I have put a selection of the new blossom rondels onto my website too and I do hope that you enjoy them too.
Here's to Spring steadily finding her way to us all
